Bio
My research is in metaphysics and the philosophy of science, with interests in ontic structural realism (OSR), metaphysical progress, and fundamentality. My dissertation develops a new argument for OSR and maps the epistemic and ontological commitments of the traditional routes to the view. In related work (forthcoming in Synthese), I show how naturalistic progress can make progress and I sketch a novel account of progress.
Before Davis, I earned a B.A. in Philosophy (with Distinction) from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2016–2020). At UC Davis, I organize and coach the undergraduate Ethics Bowl team and I founded a philosophy of science & metaphysics reading group. Outside academia, I enjoy hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and competing in pickleball at a semi-professional level.
